PURPOSE: An automatic alignment system for a runway visibility measuring device and a method thereof are provided to reduce a required time for automatic alignment of a receiver and a transmitter, and to align the device at an optimal position. CONSTITUTION: An automatic alignment system for a runway visibility measuring device comprises a transmitter(100) and a receiver(200). The transmitter includes a transmitter window, a driving unit, and a control unit. The transmitter window includes a light emitting unit which emits lights to the receiver. The driving unit moves the transmitter window so that a direction where the transmitter window faces can be regulated. The control unit calculates a target alignment point for the transmitter window and controls a motor so that the transmitter window can be set to face the target alignment point. The receiver includes a receiver window and a communication unit. The receiver window includes a light measuring unit which measures the intensity of lights which are received from the light emitting unit of the transmitter.
