MULTIMEDIA SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR INTERFACING BETWEEN MULTIMEDIA UNIT AND AUDIO HEAD UNIT

PURPOSE: A multimedia system, and a method for interfacing a multimedia unit and an audio head unit are provided to easily install and manipulate a multimedia unit in a vehicle. CONSTITUTION: A multimedia system (300) for a vehicle comprises an audio head unit (100) and a multimedia unit (200). The audio head unit transforms vehicle model information and operation key information corresponding to an original audio function into protocol signals according to a predetermined protocol, and outputs the protocol signal. The multimedia unit is directly connected to the audio head unit through a gender (150), restores the vehicle model information and the operation key information by analyzing the protocol signals delivered from the audio head unit. The multimedia unit generates an interface image for manipulating the audio head unit though touch actions based on the restored vehicle model information and the operation key information, and displays the generated interface image.
