PURPOSE: A composition containing Cynanchum wilfordii, Chrysanthemum zawadskii, or Thuja orientalis extract is provided to extend sleep duration without side effect and to prevent and treat sleep disorder. CONSTITUTION: A pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating sleep disorders contains Cynanchum wilfordii, Chrysanthemum zawadskii, or Thuja orientalis extract or a fraction thereof as an active ingredient. The composition prevents or relieves sleep disorder or induces deep sleep. The solvent fraction is a flavonoid fraction or oil fraction. A food composition for treating sleep disorder contains the extract as an active ingredient. The treatment of sleep disorder includes sedation, sleep induction, or sleep improvement.
