PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for learning Korean using visual phonics are provided to effectively teach a child or a handicapped child Korean. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for learning Korean using visual phonics comprises a communication unit (110), an input unit (120), a control unit (130), and a display unit (140). The input unit receives input information by a menu or key operation from a user. The control unit activates an application for Korean learning according to the input information and detects a symbol and a hand proviso of the visual phonics corresponding to phoneme through the activated application. The display unit indicates the symbol and the hand proviso of the visual phonics with the phoneme.
