FIELD: physics.;SUBSTANCE: disclosed is a method of identifying a seismic event, which involves combining in one seismic detector two or three pairs of spaced apart seismic sensors which are directed at an angle to each other, and subsequent processing of the obtained seismic data in order to determine the direction of the source of seismic disturbance. In order to realise this method, a seismic detector is provided, which comprises seismic sensors, an analogue-to-digital converter, a unit for identifying a seismic event, a unit for calculating the direction to the source of the seismic event, band-pass and integrating filters and a cross-correlation computer.;EFFECT: high probability of correct identification of a seismic event and accuracy of determining the direction of the source.;9 cl, 14 dwg
