FIELD: physics.;SUBSTANCE: method of diagnosing diesel engines based on analysis time parameters of the working cycle involves: mounting piezoelectric sensors (PES) on fuel injection tubes (FIT), starting the diesel engine, obtaining PES signals from the FIT of each cylinder, measuring the period of time between successive signals, calculating local revolution speed of the crankshaft on each cylinder, analysing the obtained values of local revolution speed of the crankshaft on each cylinder. The PES are connected to a MotoDoc III diagnosis system in accordance with the firing sequence in the diesel cycle. PES signals from FIT are obtained at the moment in time when there is a vibration pulse from the landing of the injector valve after injecting fuel into the cylinder. Analysis of the obtained values of local revolution speed of the crankshaft is carried out in comparison with a reference value of the given parameter which corresponds to the working condition of the diesel engine.;EFFECT: high efficiency and low labour costs on determining the type of a defect and degree of its development.
