1. A method for determining the length of a power line that connects a first location to a second location, characterized in that a first signal having a first carrier frequency (f) is provided at a first location; a first signal is transmitted from a first location to a second location via a power line; provide in a second the location of the second signal having a second frequency (f '); measure the first phase difference between the first signal and the second signal at the second location; and calculate the length value from the measured phase difference. 2. The method of claim 1, wherein the first signal is a power line data signal, in which, in particular, the modulated user data is compensated or deleted. The method according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the second frequency (f ') is equal to the first carrier frequency (f), wherein the frequency generators for generating the first carrier frequency at the first location and the second frequency at the second location are synchronized. The method according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the second frequency (f ') is equal to the first carrier frequency (f), wherein the phase and frequency of the frequency generators for generating the first carrier frequency at the first location and the second frequency at the second location are synchronized. The method of claim 1 or 2, further comprising: providing a third signal with a third carrier frequency (f '); transmitting a third signal from a second location to a first location; providing a fourth signal having a fourth frequency (f) at a second location; measure a second phase difference between the third signal and the fourth signal at the second location. 6.
