A method for performing transverse wave scattering ultrasonic vibrometry (SDUV), comprising the steps of: installing a transverse wave that comprises a monochromatic shear wave component; and form a plurality of parallel-directed receiving lines (411-426) from a single tracking pulse (404) to measure the monochromatic component of the shear wave (116), the parallel-directed receiving lines (i) being generated from echo data obtained from the target locations after transmitting one pulse tracking, and (ii) contain dynamically generated receiving lines that are spatially parallel. 2.
