FIELD: electricity.;SUBSTANCE: method to apply a composite coating includes application of a composite electrochemical layer on the basis of iron with a strengthening disperse phase, representing the following compounds interacting with iron when heated: B4C or SiC, or VC, or WC, subsequent heating using high-frequency current or laser with melting of the applied composite electrochemical layer and cooling to produce a coating containing strengthening phase compounds produced when reacting with iron: FeB or FeSi, or FeV, or FeW.;EFFECT: coating is produced, which makes it possible to increase resistance of items to cyclic loads due to generation of wear-resistant layers with compression stresses on their surface.;9 dwg
