The mechanism has a cage (14) comprising a lower half-cage provided with a lower bridge (22) and an upper half-cage provided with an upper bridge (20). An intermediate bridge (24) is placed in the cage between the lower and upper half-cages. An escape mechanism is housed inside the cage, and includes a balance (10) and an escape wheel (12). An escape pinion (38) is geared with a fixed element of movement in which the mechanism is placed. The balance, the wheel and the pinion are pivoted on the lower and upper bridges and the intermediate bridge.
