The device (1) has a state change display indicator for displaying a transition between two stable states of a given parameter. The indicator is movable, near a given parameter display zone, relative to a complementary state change display. The indicator is driven towards an elastic return unit (19) e.g. spring, by a driving unit (7) e.g. cannon-pinion, in an indirect and discontinuous manner. A drive pinion (9) is driven directly/indirectly by the driving unit, and discontinuously drives a star (10) for controlling jump of an instantaneous or semi-instantaneous jump display mechanism (30). Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) an instantaneous or semi-instantaneous step display mechanism (2) a clock element.
