A process for the preparation of a glass ceramic with the following steps:– Melting to a starting glass, the (based on oxide) 5 – 50 w -% sio2, 5 – 50 W -% al2O3 and 10 – 80 w -% of at least one oxide selected from the group, which, by means of a y2O3, Sc2O3 is formed, as well as 0,1 – 30 w -% of at least one oxide selected from the group, which, by means of a b2O3 and oxides of the lanthanides, in addition to lu2O3, Gd2O3 , and yb2O3 is formed, and further comprising 0,1 to 80 w -% of an oxide, which is selected from the group consisting of by lu2O3, Gd2O3 , and yb2O3 is formed;– Heating for ceramization, with a heating rate of at least 10 k / min, preferably by means of infrared heating device, to a temperature in the range of 1000°C. to 1400°C, to form crystallites, which contain a garnet phase,– the heating being for ceramization, up to a first temperature t1 takes place, these for a first time t1 is held and is then cooled to room temperature.
