The device has a touch-sensitive actuator arranged on a touch screen and comprising a set of over-touch coordinates of certain setting ranges. The coordinates are associated in accordance with a position curve of two target values, which depend on a working program of a cooking apparatus. The values are assignable to adjacent coordinates. One value is adjustable as a function of resolution and/or sensitivity of the touch screen. Another value is adjustable based on dimension and/or geometry of the actuator. The latter value is assignable as a recommendation or default value. An independent claim is also included for a cooking apparatus.
