The internal combustion engine comprises a crankshaft (10), a starter generator (13) and a switchable, motor side power take-off for driving an auxiliary unit (16). The power take-off is coupled and uncoupled on the crankshaft by a coupling unit (11). The starter generator is formed as belt starter generator and an additional pinion starter (19). The crankshaft is assigned a belt pulley (12), which is coupled with the auxiliary unit by a belt drive (18) and is coupled with the starter generator by another belt drive (15).
