The device (1) has a longitudinally extended frame (4) with three feet (5) for placing on a road surface. A horizontal longitudinally extended guide (6) is provided within the frame. A rubber sample (3) is applied with a normal force (F-N) at the horizontal longitudinally extended guide in horizontal manner. The rubber sample is moved over the road surface in linear manner. The normal force is generated by weight (F-G) of a drive unit (7). A sensor is provided to measure data required for direct determination of the coefficient of friction.
