The tank i.e. fuel tank (1), has a damping element (3) for floating on liquid for damping vibrations of liquid in the tank. Rod-shaped or plate-shaped guiding units i.e. guiding plates (8), permit vertically guided motion of the element within the tank. The element comprises an edge-shaped recess in which the guiding units are engaged, and slot-shaped through-holes (9) and a grid structure. Tolerance of 0 mm to 15 mm is developed between the element and the tank. The through-holes are formed at certain distance from an edge. Guiding rods are located at a region of a wall (2) of the tank.
