The method involves forming membrane electrode assembly (MEA) (1) after molding of gaskets to backing film. The MEA is arranged between bipolar plates individually between bearing plates with fluid connections in region of diffusion layer and passage opening of backing film is clamped. Test pressure is applied to region of diffusion layer and passage opening through fluid ports. The direction of forming pressure in specific region is detected and checked for compliance with predetermined criteria, and stack of MEAs satisfying density criteria are formed. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) membrane electrode assembly; and (2) testing apparatus of membrane electrode assembly.
