The device (1) has a frame (2) with multiple planting places (3) and a central supply system (4) for supplying the plants with water or a nutrient solution with an inlet (5) and an outlet (6). The supply system has multiple water storage tanks (7) which are arranged in a descending line in a stepwise manner. The planting places are arranged outside the supply system. The individual amount of water is automatically fed to the individual planting place from one of the water storage tanks.
