The device (1) has a mechanical indicating device (3) for indicating a physically measured variable. A digital-electronic conversion device (5) is signal-conductively connected with a sensing element (4). A transmission device (6) is data-conductively connected with the conversion device. The element, the conversion device and the transmission device are electrically connected with a power supply device (7). An interface (8) transmits external data between the conversion device and an external communication partner. The external data comprise identification data and/or configuration parameters such as tank volume, tank geometry, and/or level of fuel in tank. The transmission device is designed as an industrial, scientific, and medical (ISM) module. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for controlling of filling of a tank (2) a tank management device.
