The tensioner (20) has a clamping lock (10), where a band of a tension belt is inserted into the lock and subjected with tensile stress for tensioning. The tensioner and the tensioned belt are separated from each other. The clamping lock and a clamping lock of the belt are brought into contact with each other when the band is inserted. The clamping locks include a releasing side and a closing side relative to the belt. The contacted clamping locks roll on each other on rolling surfaces (W) during tensioning the belt. The clamping lock is fastened at a single-arm lever (21). An independent claim is also included for a method for tensioning a tension belt.
