The workpiece support element (11) comprises a shaft (12), and support elements (14), on which a workpiece is provided for processing a machine. A locking device is provided between the support element and the shaft, by which the support element is releasably arranged to the shaft. The shaft comprises a rotary bearing (16) for a rotatable arrangement of the support elements from a working position (13) into a resting position in a workpiece support. The locking device is detachably mounted by a plug-in-, clamping-, locking-, or a snap connection. The workpiece support element (11) comprises a shaft (12), and support elements (14), on which a workpiece is provided for processing a machine. A locking device is provided between the support element and the shaft, by which the support element is releasably arranged to the shaft. The shaft comprises a rotary bearing (16) for a rotatable arrangement of the support elements from a working position (13) into a resting position in a workpiece support. The locking device is detachably mounted by a plug-in-, clamping-, locking-, or a snap connection or by a pushbutton or a bayonet fixing. The shaft further comprises opposing slots at which the support elements are attached to the shaft, where the shaft is designed as sleeve shaft. The support element comprises a mounting portion comprising a U-shaped recess, which partly embraces the shaft, where: the U-shaped recess comprises projections trimmed near an attachment opening; and a spacing of the recess is smaller than the spacing of a contact surface of the slots, a support portion, and intermediate legs that are present between the projections and the support portion. The U-shaped recess forms a clamp fastening of a carrier element on the shaft in an attached position with clamping portions of the projections. The intermediate legs comprise front edges that are parallely aligned to each other. An insertion chamfer is formed between the projections and the attachment opening, and forms a tool zone of attack. The locking device is formed by an inner shaft guided into a hollow shaft. The support element is attached to the slots in pairs on the hollow shaft, and is more lockable to the hollow shaft by the inner shaft. The U-shaped recess of the carrying element further comprises two legs that are present between the attachment opening and the support portion, which faces the attachment opening, where the two legs comprise a concave contour as locking portion comprising a curvature adapted to a periphery of the inner shaft. A flat contact surface is present adjacent to the concave contour, and forms the leg of the U-shaped recess. The locking device is convertible by an axial sliding movement of the inner shaft to the hollow shaft from a locking position into an unlocking position, and the inner shaft is completely separated from the hollow shaft. Flattened areas are: provided at the inner shaft; assigned to one another in pairs; and arranged continuously or in a contact spacing of the slots along the inner shaft. The support elements are formed in a one-piece manner and produced from a plate-like material. The workpiece support element further comprises a planar protection element that extends along the shaft over the locking device and covers the locking device in the resting position of the support elements. The workpiece support elements are arranged adjacent to each other in a common frame of the workpiece support. Each workpiece support element is individually controlled via an actuator device so that the support elements are converted by a rotational movement from the working position receiving the workpiece into the resting position.
