The method involves removing metallic tapes i.e. electrical conductive cell contact tapes (15), in parallel from a moving head unit (22) in a preparation plane above a supply plane for a thin layer solar cell module of coils over a moving length. The metallic tapes are transferred to a gripper unit (42). The metallic tapes are indirectly applied on a surface of the thin layer cell during a return movement of the head unit. The metallic tapes are cut-off in an initial position of the head unit, so that a renewed release of the tapes is carried-out over the moving length. An independent claim is also included for a device for moving metallic tapes to thin layer solar cell modules.
