The X-ray device has a multi-focus X-ray tube that is provided with electron sources (10). The cathode (26) of electron source is galvanically separated from the power supply unit so as to supply power to the cathode of electron source. A gate electrode (14) is provided on the electron source. The assembly components (8) are arranged in series with electron source. A control unit is provided to control operation of electron source. The electron source is made up of barium and barium oxide.
