A lifting element (20a) of the lift drive unit is driven to oscillate around the lift axis in a mode of operation, by an oscillation drive unit (18a). The oscillation drive unit is formed of a mechanical or electromechanical actuator (22a). An independent claim is included for a portable machine tool.
