The method involves obtaining a primary sequence of two dimensional X-ray image data sets of certain range (34) of an object with certain resolution, and obtaining a secondary sequence of two dimensional X-ray image data sets of a sub-range (36) of the object with higher resolution than the former resolution, where the sequences are obtained by an X-ray biplane system (10) with two independently displaceable pairs of X-ray radiation sources (14,22) and X-ray radiation detectors (16,24). The combination X-ray image data set is computed by applying both sequences. The part of the two dimensional X-ray image data sets from the primary sequence is obtained simultaneously with the two dimensional X-ray image data set from the secondary sequence or between the two dimensional X-ray image data sets from the secondary sequence.
