The projector has a projector housing (2), where a discharge lamp and a cooling device, provided to cool the discharge lamp, are arranged. The cooling device and the discharge lamp are pivoted around a pivot axis (14) mounted in the projector housing in rotatable manner. The pivot axis and an optical axis of the discharge lamp are extended coaxially. A lamp housing (16) is mounted in the projector housing through rotatory bearings (20,22), particularly a sliding or rolling bearing. The beam path of the discharge lamp leads the emitted light through a passage opening (52) of the lamp housing.
