The guiding and drying device (1) has nozzle assembly having several nozzles (3.1-3.n) to emit gas and/or vapor in direction of movable material web (F) for forming pressure cushion between material web and nozzle assembly and between nozzles and gas and/or vapor suction unit (4). A material web through passage (11) is assigned to nozzle assembly in width direction relative to environment with regard to exit by gas and/or vapor shielding envelope (10), and has dimensions that are dimensioned in width and height direction such that material web is non-contactedly passed through. An independent claim is included for method for operating guiding and/or drying device.
