The cell has a semiconductor element connected between a positive pole (20) and a negative pole (30) in an electrically conductive manner. The semiconductor element is designed as a transistor (40) or a varistor. A collector (41) and an emitter (42) of the transistor are connected to the positive pole or the negative pole, respectively. A base (43) of the transistor is connected to a potential divider (50). Contacts of the varistor are attached at the positive pole and the negative pole. The transistor or the varistor is integrated in a housing (10). Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a motor car (2) a method for increasing charge of a battery cell (3) a method for leveling voltage of battery cells.
