The method involves connecting communication units (14) with one another for exchanging telegrams over an installation bus (16) of a building, and operating the communication units in an active mode, where the communication units comprise respective processors for processing the telegrams. One of the communication units is transferred to a resting mode by switching-off of the processor of the communication unit. The communication unit is returned to the active mode through activation of the processor when a portion of the telegrams is transmitted to the communication unit. An independent claim is also included for an arrangement of components installed in a building.
