The method involves receiving a use code by a control device of a motor car, where the use code is provided by a user and consists of an authentication code. The received use code is evaluated to determine conformity with an access code. An access to the car is allowed with respect to an access mode that is assigned to the access code during coincidence of the evaluated use code with the access code. The use code is transferred from an input unit i.e. touch screen, to a control device via a wireless communication link i.e. Bluetooth, where the input unit is assigned to the car. An independent claim is also included for a control device for a motor car.
