The sound damper has a housing for receiving a damping element (4) that comprises coils of rolled-up stripy damping material, where the damping material comprises plastic fibers or plastic wires. The housing comprises a connector (12) for connecting the sound damper and an air outlet. An external end of the damping material is connected with an adjacent winding of the coils, where edges of the damping material are connected with sides of the coils. The housing comprises two housing portions (1, 2) that are connected together under formation of a cavity (3) for retaining of the damping element. The damping material is designed as a knitted fabric tube, and the connector is designed as a pipe connecting piece. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a sound damper.
