The piston (1) has a piston pin retainer for fixing a piston pin (2) and provided with a stopper (5) and a circlip (4), which is formed as a locking ring or retaining ring. The stopper is designed as a radially inwardly extending collar, where the piston pin rests with an axial front end (6) on the collar. The stopper and an inwardly open circumferential groove (7) are arranged at two ends of a hub hole (3) respectively, where the piston pin is retained in the hub hole. Diameter (d1) of the hub hole is larger than diameter (d2) of a hub (9). An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a piston.
