The carrier (1) has rear longitudinal beam that is connected in one side, which is formed as a cast component. The carrier has a closed cross section which encloses a cavity (4). The cavity is integrally molded with upwardly and downwardly projecting flanges (5,5'). The carrier is made of light metal material. An independent claim is included for a method for producing a carrier.
