The system (1) has data interfaces (3-1, 3-4) provided at edges adjacent to touch-sensitive surface covering elements (2) for transmission of sensory detected contact data. The covering element comprises touch sensors for detection of the contact data of location and/or contact intensity of contact of a surface of the surface covering element by an object. An integrated logic device (4) is connected with the touch sensors, which are attached to the data interfaces of the covering element. The covering element comprises the surface made of ceramic, plastic, timber and textile. An independent claim is also included for a method for detection of an object on a surface.
