Use of an active ingredient combination comprising (a) at least one water-soluble polymer comprising at least one group of (I), and (b) at least one polar alkoxysilane compound of (II) for improving artificial colors of coloring compounds on keratin fibers, preferably human hair, is claimed. Use of an active ingredient combination comprising (a) at least one water-soluble polymer comprising at least one group of formula (-Si(OR) x(R1) 3 - x) (I), and (b) at least one polar alkoxysilane compound of formula (((R2) 3 - x(RO) x) (Si-G-K2-R1)) (II) for improving artificial colors of coloring compounds on keratin fibers, preferably human hair, is claimed. R, R1 : 1-4C alkyl, preferably methyl or ethyl; x : 1, 2 or 3; G : 1-3C alkylene; K2 : connectivity, preferably covalent bond or molecule fragment with two free valencies; and R2 : molecular fragment with at least one polar substituents, preferably at least one quaternary N, amino or anionic group. . An independent claim is also included for a cosmetic agent for dyeing keratin containing fibers, preferably human hair, comprising the above mentioned active ingredient combination and (c) at least one color-producing compound in a cosmetic carrier.
