The device adjusts angle of light beams (8,8') reflected from a wheel axle in height direction, so that light beams are struck on a Fresnel lens (2) of an optical evaluation unit (1a). The evaluation unit has a camera system (4) to detect light beams directed to a partial transmissive screen (3) from lens. The lens and partial transmissive screen are arranged parallelly, so that light beams from lens are projected on an imaging point (10) of partial transmissive screen. A processing unit is provided to evaluate signals of camera system to check wheel alignment. The device has a light generation unit that is arranged at a vehicle wheel, so that light beams are radiated to the wheel axle at specific angle.
