The device has an electric drive motor for driving a driven shaft (18) that supports a wiper arm. A shifting gear box (13) includes an eccentric cam crank (14) with a gear tooth (16), which combs with a pinion (17) to be torque-proof connected with the driven shaft. The eccentric cam crank is provided with a connecting plate (19) for connecting the driven shaft, where the connecting plate is swingably supported at the eccentric cam crank. A housing cover covers the gear box and pressurizes the driven shaft with an axial force. The housing cover rests against a component of the gear box.
