The water pump (1) has two housing sections and a pump wheel (6) that is arranged between the both housing sections on a drive shaft. A sealing gap is provided between radial outer area of the pump wheels and the radial chambers. An annular sealing and controlling element (7) is accommodated in the sealing gap. The sealing and controlling element is interrupted in circumferential direction.
