The temperature sensor has sensor housing (1) that encloses a sensor element (3), which cooperates with calibration unit. The sensor element is designed as a heating unit to heat a reference cell (6). The measurement mode can be converted into a calibration mode by a control unit (5), in which the reference cell is heated by supplying electric power to melting point (TM) as a reference temperature for calibration. An independent claim is included for method for in-situ calibration of temperature sensor.
