The device has tool halves (11, 12) comprising respective dies (11a, 12a) for receiving respective films i.e. thin films. The tool halves are designed as a vacuum shell by which the films at portions of surfaces (11b, 12b) of the dies are suckable. The tool halves are movably arranged relative to each other. The tool halves are moved between predetermined positions by linear displacement, pivoting movement and/or rotating movement. The dies form a portion of a main die (13) in one of positions. The tool halves are separated from each other in other position. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a multi-color plastic component.
