The present invention relates to a process for the formation of microcracks in of ore as a preparation for the heap leaching, in which the of ore as fresh material (a) a material bed roll mill and fed into different divisible fractions (c, d, e) is comminuted. In addition, the invention relates to a plant for carrying out the method.According to the invention it is proposed that the feed material for the material bed roller mill is a mixture of 40 – 70 weight -% of the freshly material (a) having a particle diameter of 5 – 15 mm, and 30 – 60 weight -% of a fraction of fine material (c), which is guided in circulation, with a particle diameter of less than 2 mm, preferably of less than 1,5 mm and particularly preferably of less than 1 mm.It is thus achieved that the coarse material (e) is traversed with micro-fissures and that the finely - (c) and medium material (d) at the coarse material (e) is compacted. A heap of the so treated of ore is the leaching particularly easily accessible.
