The method involves controlling of colored zone actuating elements of printing units (13) of a printing machine (10) for printing a print function on a subject which is to be printed on a substrate. A deformation or displacement of a printing unit component, involved in the printing, is metrologically detected according to static and dynamic load during the printing. Each metrologically detected deformation or displacement is dynamically compensated while printing.
