Treating water, preferably acidic surface water, comprises generating a thermally activated lime- or dolomite milk on a mobile water treatment plant by transporting burnt lime or dolomite products on a floating installation, and contacting during transport in an injector with an amount of 30-200 t/hour and with seawater (300-700 m 3/hour), which are supplied to the injector from a pumping device with a simultaneous increase in temperature of 40-100[deg] C and/or introducing under the water surface of the water body. An independent claim is also included for a device for carrying out the above mentioned method comprising (a) at least one silo vehicle with pneumatic discharge device, (b) at least one mobile water treatment plant with at least one drive, at least one control device, at least one flexible pipe between silo vehicle and a reservoir, at least one reservoir, at least one pump device, least one dosing device for solids, at least one injector, at least one water supply to the injector, at least one solid supply to the injector, and at least one distribution device for lime- or dolomite milk.
