The device comprises a calculation grid having screen bars extending transversely to an overflow threshold (22) of a rain overflow structure, a scraper comb that is guided in an intermediate space between the screen bars, a paddle wheel drive (4), which motionally cooperates with a crank drive, an actuating lever (6), where one end of the actuating lever is hingedly connected with the crank drive and an other end of the actuating lever bears the scraper comb, a fixed support bearing, and a unit, by which the paddle wheel drive is seen in a flow direction of an overflow current. The device comprises a calculation grid having screen bars extending transversely to an overflow threshold (22) of a rain overflow structure, a scraper comb that is guided in an intermediate space between the screen bars, a paddle wheel drive (4), which motionally cooperates with a crank drive, an actuating lever (6), where one end of the actuating lever is hingedly connected with the crank drive and an other end of the actuating lever bears the scraper comb, a fixed support bearing, a unit, by which the paddle wheel drive is seen in a flow direction of an overflow current, placed in a permanent or an intermittent operation mode, and a flow diverter arranged in the flow direction of the overflow current behind the calculation grid for drive-related or non-drive-related derivative of overflow water for the paddle wheel drive. The flow diverter is motionally connected with a control swimmer (11) arranged in front of the calculation grid using a two-armed lever, which is pivotable about a fixed pivot bearing. The contour of the flow diverter forms: a flow barrier protruding over the OK overflow threshold in the non-drive-related position; and a hydraulic connection between the overflow threshold and the paddle wheel drive in the drive-related position. A baffle is disposed between the flow diverter and the paddle wheel drive and between the overflow threshold and the flow diverter.
