The device (1) has a receiving unit (3) for pulling a runner (4) along a raceway (2) and connected with an acceleration unit (5) i.e. running carriage, which pulls the receiving unit relative to the raceway along a predetermined direction. The acceleration unit pulls the receiving unit along horizontal direction with predetermined acceleration or velocity. An upwardly-directed force component (v) impinges the receiving unit along vertical direction. The acceleration unit comprises a brake unit. A carrier (7) i.e. double T-carrier, extends along travel direction. An independent claim is also included for a method for executing running training of a runner.
