Device for reducing energy of water waves during a preparation for cleaning the water surface of oil spills, comprises a barrier (1), which is assembled in longitudinal direction of prismatic modules, where each module (2) is formed from a frame (3), and at least surface of the water side is covered with a network (4) of polymeric material and/or metal, or using the networks covered pallets occupied in the outer prismatic shape of the module are obtained.
