Diagnosing malignant diseases, comprises: providing a sample obtained from a bodily fluid or a bodily waste; and determining the concentration of at least one of the microRNAs including microRNA-1246 (SEQ ID NO: 1) and microRNA-1290 (SEQ ID NO: 2), in the sample. Diagnosing malignant diseases, comprises: providing a sample obtained from a bodily fluid or a bodily waste; and determining the concentration of at least one of microRNAs including microRNA-1246 having a sequence of aauggauuuuuggagcagg (SEQ ID NO: 1) and microRNA-1290 having a sequence of uggauuuuuggaucaggga (SEQ ID NO: 2), in the sample. Independent claims are also included for: (1) a kit for diagnosing the malignant diseases, comprising at least one probe and/or a primer for detecting the microRNAs including microRNA-1246 and microRNA-1290; and (2) use of microRNA-1246 and microRNA-1290 specific probes for diagnosing cancer.
