The method involves arranging a filter substrate (2) within an air supply line of a compressed turbocharger charge air and comparing measured values of the filter substrate from a start-up of an internal combustion engine with readings of contaminated filter substrate according to operation of the internal combustion engine. The amount of impurities is finally judged from the difference of measured values of the filter substrate. The filter substrate is arranged in a charge-air line between a compressor of an exhaust gas turbocharger and an intercooler. An independent claim is also included for a measuring arrangement.
