The cooling mechanism comprises a temperature sensor for measuring the temperature, where a distributor is adapted to distribute a cooling fluid on a building surface. An electrical controller (22) is adapted to activate the distributor device when a temperature measured by the temperature sensor exceeds a predetermined value. The distributor is provided with one or more pipe outlet holes formed on a hosepipe (6). A moisture sensor (24) is provided, where the electrical controller disables the distributor when the measured moisture exceeds predetermined value. An independent claim is also included for a method for cooling a building surface.
