Connecting two metal pipes made of simple steel, which exhibits high-quality coating at least on one side, which is to be protected from corrosion, comprises (a) applying two rings of high grade material in or on side of the ends of the tubes to be protected, (b) applying the protective coating in or on the pipes, where the coating are not applied on the rings and/or on the joint edges, and/or removing the coating from these locations, (c) welding together the ends of the rings by a higher welding, and (d) welding the ends of the tubes by a lower- or higher welding. An independent claim is also included for a gapless pipe joint comprising two rings, a high-quality coating welding seam at the end sides of the rings and a high- or less significant weld joint at the tube ends.
